Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol was where many of the leaders of the Irish independence movement were held and executed, including the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising. Now one of Europe’s largest unused prisons, the gaol has been faithfully restored and houses a major exhibition of the history of the gaol and its significance in the history of the struggle for Irish independence.
